The front of the barrel assembly appears like it used to be 5600 and was overstamped at the factory to make it 5700.I suspect that when the number changed from 5699 to 5700, they forgot to change the 6 to a 7.G block. Magazine is a Waa359.
It is original period produced in WWII, but the magazine was made by Walther instead of Mauser. The only thing functionally wrong is the safety will not engage when the hammer is back, which results in the decocker not working. Below that on the next portion of the metal is the Mauser insignia with an ovoid circle. On the other side of the barrel it says Cal.7.65 D.R.P.u.A.P. All the engraving is very clear and no apparent wear. The grip is in very good condition with small amount of wear by the safety. The rest of the grip shows all the crosshatching, no wear or staining. All the metal portion shows no wear and still has good blueing. I have a certificate dated 6 July 1945 from HQ Battery, 671st FA Bn signed by John D. Marpay Capt. stating that this weapon was enemy captured military equipment by my father and has trophy value and authorized by father to keep same.
